Trying to decide if I should buy this mare ...?
Recently, I asked my Quarter Horse mare. I've had over the 12 years and also own two of her foals. A lovely black mare recently came to the barn for a client to try. It was a little small for the other client [only 15.1hh, just a little smaller than my mare was]. Since I have no horse to ride, our Barn manager suggest I take a look at the mare. It is also a registered QH, like mine, and seems very similar. It was not worked in about 6 months, but it was still quiet when the owner of the horse [especially considering it was her first day at our barn]. She has 7 years and has been undergoing training in western pleasure saddle and English and is apparently very well behaved on trails. She's cute mover, is the conformation of Nice, appears healthy and does not appear to have behavioral problems. My only hesitation is that it is so similar to the mare that I lost and I fear that this similarity will be a constant reminder of the loss of my other horse. I can not decide.
Sounds like the perfect horse. The've checked and if it passes, then buy it. If the only thing that puts you off is the fact that your mare is like others, do not worry no, I have not met two who ride horses or do the same. You'll quickly find your new horse characters and realize that they are not really all the same.
