A Bit About jaws
The bit is your communication link to your horse with the reins, the pressure of your legs and body position. Depending on your style of riding and your level of experience and the status of your horse's mouth, different bits will be more appropriate than others. Generally Most horses that have not been mistreated will have what is called a mouth "soft" meaning that their mouths did not get hurt by misuse of a bit or cruel treatment by a pilot insensitive. Horses that have been hijacked by the cruel and excessive use of bit is known as "hard mouth" and require specialized combinations of bits to control the horse.
Fortunately, there are very few horses that were abused and most horses have a soft mouth. The type most commonly recommended bits will both ensure that the rider has control and to provide protection to the horse's mouth. Get the right size bit is essential to make uncomfortable for the horse and prevent pinching the sensitive skin on the side of the mouth. In general most light breeds of horses will use some five inches, which is far in the song. Some horses have mouths more or less wide, so a good driver will always be measured using the horse's mouth to outside the mouth, then add half an inch additional. If you start with a five inch bit, so you can see if you need to go more or less wide, or you can try a variety of parts and measure what is the best fit. Keep in mind that the bit must be ¼ inch of each side from outside the mouth the horse to adjust properly. A string can be used and measured if you do not want to try an assortment of sizes of bits. Any side chain around the horse language to place the bit would normally rest and measure ¼ inch of each side for the final bit size.
English and chunks of the West are different, are as bits for racing, dressage and other types of special events. The most common bit styles in English and Western riding is a bit of netting, which is also softer on the horse's mouth. A bit of thread is two bars that connect in the middle, with the jaws Western also known as the curb bit because there will be two curb "extra" pieces on each side. Snaffle bits are great for novice riders because even if the pilot pulls harder than necessary on the bit of the horse's mouth is not injured. Horses that have Hard mouth may need other types of bits such as track borders, scrolls, and Kimberwick Pelham bit, depending on driving style. Since these bits can and will cause damage to the horse if misused, they are not recommended for inexperienced riders significant.
Always clean your shortly after each trip to avoid the accumulation of debris, Goop and drool on the bit. It's a good idea to have a little round parts that can be Attached in the headrest of the bridle and used while the other bit is completely cleaned. Soaking the bit in the clear water and warm during one hours will typically soften any dried on material which can then be removed with a stiff brush and a good rub.
