Dressage Bridle Reins

Great News for Serious Riders Equestrian
Motivated and inspired riders often fall into the perfectionism trap. Whether you're in the disciplines jumping, dressage or endurance riding, it is easy to become obsessed with perfection, always you and your horse, pushing further and harder.
Equestrian perfectionism often leads to micromanagement. Micro refers to the need to be in control of all movements that your horse (or children, or employees or students) did.
Never heard of the descent of the hand? This is a classic riding term. I have heard many theories about the exact meaning of descent of the hand, too many arguments and heated.
Descent of the principal is the exact opposite of micromanagement. How many riders instructors (and!) Do you know who indulge in this hobby a manipulator? It is often more obvious in their relationships with people around them. Sometimes they are also known as control freaks. Micromanagement is demoralizing and humiliating for your horse and for your husband, wife, child, parent, friend and co-workers.
Descent of the principal is the empowerment of your horse to take responsibility for its own car, without losing contact. When used correctly, lowering the hand can do magic - but what is it? I think will be better to leave the microphone to master the art of classical riding, and one of my countrymen, Francois de La Guérinière:
"There are two ways to give the hand. The first, which is the most common and most frequently used, is to lower the flange hand, as we have indicated. The second way is to take the reins in his right hand behind the left hand, while lifting slightly over the reins in his left hand, passing control to the right hand and finally the abandonment of control of the left hand completely, roll right hand on the horse's neck, and thus the horse is completely free of contact.
This way of giving with the hand is called the descent of hand: it is also carried out on the ends of the bridle with his right hand held up to the rider's head, right arm and free but you must be sure the horse's mouth and his desire to obey, to use this method. We must be careful not to give hand or perform hands down when the horse's weight is on his shoulders a good time to perform this movement, after a half-halt, and if you feel the horse back on his haunches, giving the hand or run the downhill hand.
The appropriate time to discern and difficult to grasp, is one of the most subtle and useful aids for riding because the horse, bending his right hip that the contact is released, must necessarily remain Light in hand, having no other support for the head. "Francois de La Guérinière" Cavalry School "
Good New: you can let them go. Relax. You do not really need to learn and master every riding skill or immediately perfectly. Choose the right time and then relinquish control. Focus and put all your attention specifically on the mastery of a skill to both. Give yourself and your horse a break if you feel overwhelmed. You need breaks and rewards if you want to stay productive. And is that your horse. It is necessary to refresh and recharge your batteries and often your horse.
Striving for excellence, not perfection.
And make same thing in your relationship. In our interactions with people around us, we often try to micro-manage their behavior, because we are afraid for their safety. Perhaps, however, we must practice Descent of the hand in our relationship as: drop your hands, let go, stop interfering, but do not lose contact. Allow everyone around you to take responsibility for their own actions. Your stress levels dramatically fall!
