Halter Western English
Arabian Halter Class. First visit?
Hi. I have a mare 22 years old Saudi who is a Hunter Jumper. She made three eventing, staging, western, hunter apartment, English, barrels and jumps to 2 feet. I intend to show in a halter class in less than 2 weeks and it has never done before. I showed Hackney Pony Halter and I realize it is not the same thing. I have no idea on how to show Arabic Halter. I know she needs to be fluid and it needs to look fiery but some advice on what I should do, what it should look like and what I have to wear would be great because as of right now, I 'm totally lost. Thank you!
I love when people branch out with their horses! For a class of Arabic, it might help you read the rules for Arabian In-Hand showing at usef.org. The full link is below. I am assuming you are an adult showing in Halter and not showing in Youth Showmanship. The horse must have a headrest with throatlatch. In Saudi Halter classes are generally Headstalls thin leather to show the horse's head. You can carry a whip, but he can not touch the horse. It should look smooth, neat, and spirited. Rule AR107 in the manual explains exactly what USEF you need to do and not do. If your horse conformation is more English type your jacket can be a hunter-style jacket, if you horse is out of stock or Western type you can choose a cut of the West and style of your jacket. You'll turn your horse to be sure you are able to move comfortably. Halter Arabic is beautiful. Good luck!
