How to clean wood furniture
A room full of beautiful wood furniture brings warmth and elegance to any room, however, it is inevitable that stains and small accidents causing damage to your furniture. Maybe you want to restore wood or wicker furniture to its former glory.
Here are some tips on cleaning and maintenance of your wood furniture to keep it looking beautiful for a long time.
Remove water spots on wood furniture - There are two ways to remove a water stain wood furniture. 1) set a blotting cloth onto the stain and run a hot iron on up the stain is gone. 2) pass the lemon oil in place, caught overnight, wipe the excess oil off.
Remove stains of alcohol on wood furniture - any substance containing alcohol (drinks, medicines, cosmetics) can eat through wood finish fast. When a spill occurs, take a cloth and moisten with lemon oil. Rub the stain with the cloth (if the stain is dry, remove with the same method as you wood a wood engraving).
Hide scratches on dark cherry wood furnishings or mahogany - rub spot with a cotton swab soaked in iodine.
Hide unshellacked scratches on maple or light wood furniture cherry - rub spot with a cotton swab soaked in iodine diluted 50% with denatured alcohol.
Darken a scratch on the furniture in solid wood - the scoop meat of a walnut and rub it gently on the scratch. Be sure to rub it directly on top of the scratch.
Remove scratches from oiled finishes on wood furniture - take fine steel wool and dip it into light mineral oil or boiled linseed oil. Rub in the grain. Either oil penetrate into the wood, then wipe timeline dry with a clean cloth.
Remove burns on wood furniture - obtain the pumice powder fine (check providers woodworking) and mixed with linseed oil. Take a soft cloth and rub the burn in the grain, with the dough. Repeat burning on site until disappears. This works best on light burns.
Remove rings glass furniture Wood - rubbing the rings with a mixture of mayonnaise and white toothpaste. Wipe and buff entire table.
Remove stains from spilled milk on the solid wood furniture - Soak a cloth soaked in ammonia or silver polish and rub stain area. Wipe with a clean cloth.
Cleaning Leather Furniture - Furniture is washed with a solution of 1 / 4 cup vinegar and ½ cup water. Then, furniture, wash with saddle soap (available at shoe and hardware stores). Finally, rub vigorously furniture with a soft cloth.
Caring for wicker furniture - wicker tends to be dry and may become brittle or cracked. Place fragile wicker furniture inside a bathtub and drench with water to restore moisture. Keep in wicker away from hot places such as stove, radiator and fireplace.
Tips for polishing furniture - 1) polish furniture often with a lint-free slightly dampened with furniture polish. 2) Use a furniture polish sparingly. This rubbing motion (or elbow grease) which is the real secret to maintain a high gloss. 3) stick with either an oil or wax based furniture polish. Using both on the same piece can cause stains and spots. 4) remove the wax buildup by moistening a soft cloth with synthetic turpentine, mineral spirits or liquid polish, and cleaning all surface.
