Los Caballos de Paso Fino - the horses with The Fine Walk
Horse Paso Fino has a proud past and is one of the oldest breeds indigenous to the hemisphere West. During the 500 years they have been selectively bred in the Western Hemisphere, the Paso Fino has participated in the conquest the Americas, then in the exploration and development of North and South American continents. Today, they are horses, horses, trail pleasure, and have a multitude of uses in all equestrian disciplines. But is the lateral four-time gait that distinguishes the Paso Fino. The origins of the Paso Fino began in Spain, where a mix of breeds opportunity created offspring that would one day one of the world's finest riding horses. The resulting offspring had the hardiness of the Barb, the natural pride and presence of the Andalusian and look extremely comfortable saddle horse of Spain.
In 1492, Christopher Columbus discovered the New World had no horses, So with his second voyage, he brought the first horses to Santo Domingo, a small group of mares and stallions of Andalusia and Cordell lines above mixed. The result of the combination of these horses and isolation of them in such a small space has ensured that these strains may not evolve to the Paso Fino horse.
The descendants of these horses have been isolated to scattered throughout the different lands as conquerors invaded. Centuries selective breeding by settlers in Latin America and the Caribbean has produced variations of the "Caballo de Criollo," (native horse). Among them was small, very muscular, very fine Paso Fino that flourished initially in Puerto Rico and Colombia, and later in many other countries in Latin America (mainly Cuba, Dominican Republic, Aruba and Venezuela) have been adapted for Ranch work throughout Central and South America. But The most popular approach has been incredibly smooth running of the Jennet was quickly recognized as a desirable and actively maintained. This became the genetic stamp of the Paso Fino.
Awareness of the Paso Fino has not spread outside of America Latin until after the war. It was after the U.S. military came in contact with the splendid horse while stationed Puerto Rico as the Americans began importing them in the mid-1940s. Alterations Mane, tail and lock of hair should be as long, full and luxurious as possible and no added artificial or surgical procedures are allowed. We can not speak of a Paso Fino without focusing on their extremely smooth step up their name, Paso Fino means "Fine Step". It is an evenly spaced four-stroke side walking with each foot contacting the ground independently in a regular sequence at precise intervals creating a rapid, continuous and very regular 1-2-3-4 beat. Executed perfectly, the four hoof beats are absolutely even in both cadence and impact, resulting in unequaled smoothness and comfort for the rider. The pace is extremely fast with steps and the extension too short. Although the horse measures extremely rapidly, it only takes small strides, so the speed is somewhere between walking and galloping. This approach is generally used in the show because it strains the horse, although they can maintain Paso for a long period of time without rest. It is quite a remarkable show that the horse appears to dance.
The Paso Corto has a feed rate that is moderately full with a moderate collection. The footsteps are on the ground covering but unhurried, and are executed with medium extension and stride. It is a comfortable way to approach similar speed trotting speed. The Corto is the average speed and a path well-conditioned Paso Fino can Trip to the Corto for hours. The Paso Largo is the greater speed of travel, almost like a gallop, and is a more extended version of the same step. It is executed with a longer extension and moderate Stride to minimal collection. Some horses develop this version when diagonal are stressed or tired, it may be a signal that the horse is overworked or simply picking up bad habits.
The Paso Fino has a spirit lively but controlled and is a sweet horse who is intelligent, sensitive and gentle. It is a horse who seems eager to really enjoy the company of man and strives to please with his attitude very responsive when under Tack. They are often trained in both English style and Western and many owners choose stylish Tack one of the countries of origin of the horse. They are lightly shod or go unshod when is far from rocky or paved surfaces.
In 1972, the Paso Fino Horse Association (PFHA) was founded. She is a member-governed, nonprofit dedicated to promoting, protecting and improving the breed. It is unclear from their site if they are a race to the registration body as there is no reference to the agent or studbook historical or other registration information that you would expect from a register. His 8500 members are represented by 24 regional groups of the United States, Canada, Europe and South America that shows all the sponsors and other events, but does not fit Paso Finos.
Another site called Paso Registry (PFR) is also "not register" as one blogger wrote, but he did genealogical research on the standards foundation. A link on their site to "register your horse" leads nowhere, and there no registration information that you would expect on a site registry. A look at pedigree shows the list are generally Paso Fino names in Spanish or in Spanish "flavored" but it is a requirement for official registration (as in certain breeds), or just traditional preference is not clear whether the rules for registration are available.
The Paso Fino horse is versatile, capable of adapt to a variety of climates and goals and demonstrates his remarkable versatility, not only in the ring, but on the track competition and rides endurance, dressage, rodeo and cattle work. They continue to grow in popularity, as one by one, converts are won over by the experience hiking.
