Choosing a Saddle: Western Saddle or English Saddle?
For most, there are two distinct types of popular saddles, English and Western. In reality, there are distinctions within these two groups, particularly in the English saddles, plus there are endurance saddles and Australian styles saddle. The two styles of English saddle and western are impossible to confuse, and are designed to best suit the particular requirements of different riding styles.
Western saddles have a basic style with many different shapes and size variations within this general form. The seat of the West stands with a horn and big fork in front of the seat, a seat at the back of the seat and low cantle for high constituent the rear seat. The western saddle skirt also has a distinctive saddle and stirrups, wide and long and the wings, often who are very ornate and carved.
English saddles are much lighter than western saddles and tend to be more simplistic in style. Regardless of what type of saddle you purchase, it is important to ensure that it fits the horse properly. Poorly fitting saddles will result in saddle sores for the horse and aversion to be used.
