Great American Westerns Still Blazing Trails In Americas Heart
From the beginning of the video creation and broadcast television the most popular genres of entertainment have been Western themes. Top stars like Tom Mix, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, among others, were major strengths especially at the box office.
People loved the look and action packed scenes. Some of these early films are still watched today by those who love classic films.
When the 1950's and 60's rolled around, television western was very large. There was The Lone Ranger, The Rifleman, Wild, Wild West, Wagon Train, Maverick, Gun Smoke, Branded, even comedy, F Troop Young boys are particularly big fans of these shows.
Some of them lasted long. Gun Smoke, for example, started with a radio version ran from 1952 to 1961, was considered one of the soap opera shows ever. This television series of gun smoke ran from 1955 to 1975, and is one of the longest television drama series. Many of these programs are still visible in the replay cable or satellite channels.
As popular as the television Western has been the major screen stars of the West have been making about some great films and memorable Western. John Wayne began his career in the 1920s, in silent films. It has really become well know because of his films Western from 1939 when he made Stage Coach.
Accordingly, he played in several films, including dramas set in modern day and war films. There will always be the most loved and known for his character of a cowboy in movies like True Grit, Sons of Katie Elder, Rooster Cogburn, and much, much more.
The Along with John Wayne, came from a star lanky cowboy named Clint Eastwood. He appeared in the television series Raw Hide, but is become a movie star in the West who could compete with John Wayne in the 1960s. In films like The Good, Bad and Ugly, Fist Full of Dollars, A Few Dollars More Two Mules for Sister Sarah, High Plains Drifter, and in 1976, The Outlaw Josey Wales, he made his first real mark in movies.
It was during the 70 years he made films about Dirty Harry movies and other criminal hunting provided in modern situations which enjoys a reputation yet more. Other films such as Sudden Impact, Magnum Force, The Enforcer were all movies he is known for.
He did comedy as well as each Which Way But Loose film and two suites. Today, he still acts, but is one of our best filmmakers also known.
Although there were a few notable westerns that have been made in recent years such as the Young Guns series Lonesome Dove, and Dances with Wolves, they have not continue to do so regularly, as in past years.
